Memo: And the 2012 BBP Production is..............

9 to 5!
This summer Broadway Bound Players will be performing Dolly Parton's musical 9 to 5. Yes, there is a movie and it's very close to the book for the show! The soundtrack is available on iTunes and is fantastic. If you plan on coming out for the show, (which we hope you are) we recommend that you purchase the soundtrack to familiarize yourself with the show. If you can't purchase the soundtrack you can also look up the songs on YouTube. The show has strong roles for females and males, an equal balance between singing dancing, and acting, and has a featured ensemble.

9 TO 5: THE MUSICAL is a hilarious story of friendship and revenge in the Rolodex era. 9 TO 5: THE MUSICAL tells the story of three unlikely friends who conspire to take control of their company and learn there's nothing they can't do -- even in a man's world. Outrageous, thought-provoking and even a little romantic, 9 TO 5: THE MUSICAL is about teaming up and taking care of business... it's about getting credit and getting even...

We will be having an informational meeting for parents and potential cast members in May, two audition workshops just like is years past, and auditions will be in the beginning of June. Once the dates and times are set for the meetings, workshops, and auditions I will be sure to post them here on the blog, the BBP Facebook wall, and send the information to Mrs. Dougherty at Delsea High School. If you have any questions feel free to message me here, onf Facebook, or email me. Hope you're excited, I know we all are and we can't wait to get started!

Song Selections for Auditions

Here are the song selections for the auditions!
For auditions you will have to sing one of the selections provided. There are five songs, two for girls, two for boys, and then one song that anyone may choose to sing, "If They Cold See Me Now". For girls you can sing either "Baby Dream Your Dream" or "There's Gotta Be Something Better Than This" and for boys you can sing either "Too Many Tomorrows" or "Rhythm of Life".  At callbacks you may be asked to sing one of the other songs offered so please take some time so that you are familiar with all three selections. YouTube videos have been made for the recordings that you will be singing with at auditions so that you can start practicing! We will also be going over the songs at the Audition Workshops.

Girls....go get those Character Shoes!!!

Girls you must have character shoes for the first day of rehearsal. it is recommended that you buy them ahead of time so that you can break them in. No one wants a big blister bothering them during the workshops, auditions, or worst of all, the first week of rehearsal. Here are some places that you can buy character shoes from in our area. We recommend that you try them on before ordering them online. The fit should be snug the leather will stretch to your foot and you will be dancing in these for two months so you want a good fit. We can talk more about fit and tricks for your shoes at workshops and the first rehearsal. The requirements for the actual shoes needed are your choice of T-strap or Mary Jane character shoes, in nude, with at least a 2 inch heel.

We want you to know that it is crucial for you to have your shoes for the first rehearsal at the very latest. You need to be rehearsing in these shoes from the beginning for your safety and the safety of the other cast members.
